Car Rental in Panama
If you are interested in a road trip or do-it-yourself vacation, then renting a car might be a good idea. Panama has Car Rental companies in all mayor cities.

Itinerary Ideas:

Day Trips from Panama City Some Car Rantal companies have discounted "Car & Hotel" packages that will work great if you are planning to take only day trips from Panama City.

Pan-American Highway Besides the shortage of signs and other common , the experienced traveler will find that the Pan-American Highway is generally in good conditions, and it is a fun road to explore beaches and mountain towns.

Exploring the Highlands Some of the most scenic roads in the country are on the Chiriqui Highlands. You can rent a car in David and drive to Boquete, Cerro Punta, Rio Sereno, and even over the mountains crossing the Continental Divide all the way to the Caribbean coast.

SAFETY TIPS:

Road Signs While driving in Panama you will notice a shortage of road sings, and when you do see them they are not a 100% clear. The sign above means "children at play", not that you are entering a nudist colony.

Driving at Night Because of the lack of road signs and proper illumination, driving at night should be avoided whenever possible. Specially on the road to Bocas del Toro, which goes over the mountains and it has dangerous curves, cliffs, fog, and landslides are common in the area.
